Glades Crop Care has a small research program that is driven by the
integrated pest management needs of our growers. We recognized an important
need for greater information on biologically based control of our vegetable
pests and in 1993 increased our research efforts.
Since then, valuable insights toward development of an environmentally
sound, biologically based bell pepper IPM program have resulted. These
insights have further application to snap beans, potatoes and cucurbits. Ws
call this our Eco-Based IPM Program. Additional results are explained.
This small research program has been funded through several sources,
including an EPA Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Grant, a USDA Small
Business Innovation Research Grant phase I and II and most recently, a USDA
Pest Management Alternatives Program Grant. We fondly call our research
program conducted with the grant monies our R & D program and are proud that
Glades Crop Care can produce valuable innovations for our growers without
having to use monies from our growers.
Some of the results of these research projects include,
Most of these innovations and research work have been conducted in growers
farms and fields and we are indebted to their willing participation and
commitment. We especially thank Ted Winsberg, Fryday Cole, Chuck
Obern, Wade Purvis and Bill Lindgren.
